APD Care

What is the APD?

ADP employee conducting group home monitoring

Starting in October of 2004, the Agency for Persons with Disabilities, formally known as the Developmental Disabilities Program, aids in assisting Floridians with disabilities and their caregivers. Working closely with local organizations and private providers, APD strives to give families and their loved ones peace of mind with support from trusted partners. APD group homes are closely monitored to ensure:

  • The residents’ rights to privacy, dignity, respect and individual decision-making are supported

  • Providers are furthering life skills development through access to community-based activities

  • Residential habilitation standards to acquire, maintain or improve daily living skills are met

  • Health and safety standards are upheld

  • Proper medication administration

  • All employees undergo a criminal background screening

  • All direct care staff members have completed the required training programs and have passed competency-based assessments

In addition to the oversight of APD care providers, the APD increases access to community services, treatment, and residential care for developmentally disabled Floridians. The agency also advocates for more job opportunities for people with disabilities.

Noel’s Residence APD Group Home

In addition to strict adherence to APD provider guidelines, Noel’s Residence Group Home goes above and beyond to make our house a home. Our Florida group homes for adults with developmental disabilities are designed for comfort, social engagement, recreation, and personal growth. Our bedrooms afford privacy while our living areas promote inclusion within a family atmosphere. We enjoy family-style home-cooked dinners, play games from billiards to ping pong, have group workouts in our fitness center, create music together in our music room, garden, raise chickens, and do lots of arts and crafts.

While there is plenty to do in our homes, we go out in the community daily. Our residential care homes are located in neighborhoods with great lifestyle amenities. The Azalea House Group Home in Plantation is within walking distance of the Plantation Community Center, the Plantation Woods, and the library. The Lucky House Group Home in Delray Beach is near parks, shopping, restaurants, and the beach. It’s great to live in a walkable neighborhood, but there is also so much to explore throughout Southeast Florida. We often take day trips to museums, festivals, nature centers, zoos, shopping malls, movie theaters, and bowling alleys.

Recreation and social engagement are so important, but personal growth is another key element to a well-rounded lifestyle. Caring for our residents means providing them with the necessary tools to help them achieve their individual goals. From basics like personal hygiene to job placement assistance, our staff members assist with making sure that every resident is given individualized attention to make their goals a reality. Our approach to residential rehabilitation takes care of basic needs while creating training opportunities every single day. We keep our numbers low in order to provide the special care and consideration our residents deserve.
